Melissa L Wheaton

Melissa L. Wheaton is the Founder and Principal Attorney at TEPS LAW, LLC. She is a 5th generation Florida native, originally from Jacksonville, a “Double Gator,” who now calls South Florida home. Melissa concentrates her practice in the areas of taxation and estate planning.

Prior to starting TEPS LAW, Melissa worked for a Fortune 260 company for over 13 years representing management in collective bargaining disputes. She served as a Director of Labor Relations and Arbitration, leading a team of highly skilled managers in handling arbitration of contractual disputes, negotiating agreements, effective claim settlements of high liability cases, and providing training deliverables to internal stakeholders.

Intellectual curiosity coupled with the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 compelled Melissa to earn an LL.M. in Taxation at Boston University School of Law. Melissa truly enjoyed studying the Internal Revenue Code in depth. During her studies at Boston University School of Law, Melissa developed a passion for Estate Planning. It came as no surprise when she decided to pursue a concentration in Estate Planning. Melissa earned one of the highest grades in 4 out of 12 Taxation classes (Partnerships, Estate Planning, International Estate Planning, and Trusts & Fiduciaries). Resulting in Melissa graduating with an “A” Average.

Melissa’s professionalism, leadership abilities, and management experience- all acquired in Corporate America- are the pillars of TEPS LAW, LLC. Melissa’s main focus is making all clients feel at ease discussing and preparing plans for end of life. While also providing zealous representation in Tax Disputes and Controversies.
